The Punjab Women’s Development Department marked International Women’s Day with a special ceremony to celebrate the achievements of Pakistani women excelling in various fields.
Punjab’s Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, addressing the event, emphasized that national progress is impossible without women’s contributions and highlighted Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz as a symbol of empowerment in Punjab.
Speaking at the event, Maryam Aurangzeb acknowledged the role of men who have supported women’s empowerment, urging society to recognize its collective responsibilities in fostering gender equality.
“Women stand alongside men in every field, proving their capabilities worldwide. Pakistani women, especially in IT, business, and STEM, are second to none,” she remarked.
The minister also underscored Punjab’s advancements under Maryam Nawaz’s leadership, reaffirming the government’s commitment to public welfare.
“Providing relief to the people is our mission,” she stated.
The event’s theme, Rights, Equality, and Empowerment, placed special emphasis on Punjab ki Beti—Maryam Nawaz—acknowledging her efforts for women’s progress in the province.
A song dedicated to her contributions was also presented during the ceremony.
Additionally, Maryam Aurangzeb announced new initiatives, including the launch of an app and Management Information System (MIS) for working women, and the establishment of daycare hostels and women development centers for those relocating to Punjab from other provinces.
The Sehar Program was also introduced to support rural women, furthering the government’s commitment to inclusive empowerment.
