The Punjab government on Saturday decided to suspend mobile phone and internet services during the MDCAT (Medical and Dental College Admission Test) to prevent cheating.
The Federal Ministry of Interior issued directives to the PTA (Pakistan Telecommunication Authority) on the recommendation of the Punjab government.
The Punjab Home Department had written to the federal government on the advice of the Health Department in this regard.
The location coordinates of the 26 examination centres in Punjab have been sent to the PTA for the suspension of mobile and internet services.
In 12 districts of Punjab, 26 examination centres have been set up for the admission test. The mobile and internet services will remain suspended within a 500-meter radius of these centres.
The admission test will be held on Sunday, September 22, in 12 cities of Punjab, where 82,500 candidates will participate.
Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur, DG Khan, Sahiwal, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujrat and Rahim Yar Khan are the 12 districts where the tests will be taken.
According to a spokesperson of the Punjab Home Department, the mobile signals around the examination centers would.remain suspended from 9:30am to 1:30pm.
