The Punjab government has introduced a reward scheme offering up to Rs10 million for information leading to the capture of notorious dacoits in the Kacha region.
This move followed the recent fatal rocket attack in Rahim Yar Khan District, which claimed the lives of 12 police officers.
According to a notification issued on Friday, rewards are set at Rs10 million for high-profile dacoits, Rs5 million for mid-level targets, and Rs2.5 million for lower-tier criminals.
Punjab Inspector General Dr. Usman Anwar revealed that a significant operation is currently underway in the riverine areas, with 320 police officers from Punjab working in conjunction with Sindh police forces.
In the aftermath of the attack, Punjab police reported the death of the primary suspect, Bashir Shar, along with injuries to five of his associates.
The police confirmed their retaliation against the attackers, stating, “The chief suspect behind yesterday’s assault on our officers has been neutralized.”
