In a bid to enhance digital learning and bridge the technological gap among students, the Punjab government has launched a new initiative to distribute laptops to outstanding students across the province.
This initiative intends to benefit all students, including those who get admitted at any level to pursue postgraduate or undergraduate education while equipping them with contemporary study tools. Overall, 100,000 laptops will be shared, but attention will be on the top-scoring students while targeting more low-income backgrounds as well as some minority communities.
Who Gets Laptops?
The process of its distribution will, first of all, be preferred by the students of universities and colleges, and technical institutes along with medical colleges. Almost one-third of 32% percent will be received by the South Punjab students.
It will ensure that the better-performing student in computer science, engineering, social sciences, medicine, agriculture, and in all fields from various streams enjoy this scheme as well.
Eligibility criteria for the scheme:
The selection process will not require any application by the students this year; instead, educational institutions will prepare the lists according to academic records. Data will be verified and finalized by the Higher Education Commission of Punjab.
When Will Laptops Be Distributed?
The distribution of laptops is expected to start after Ramadan 2025, and there will be official events in different locations. The students are asked to keep an eye on their respective institutions for further details on the selection process.
The launching of this program is expected to help the Punjab government empower the students with all the necessary digital tools to succeed in their studies and research.
