Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz plans to install new drainage and sewage systems in the province’s largest cities, media reports say.
For the first time, Punjab’s chief minister will present a thorough urban sewage and drainage plan for each of the province’s major cities.
Chief minister has instructed officials to create comprehensive plans for 189 cities with a population of 100,000 or more. In this plan road restoration, stormwater management, water drainage, sewage upgrades, and other important infrastructure projects will all include.
The government will install sewage bypasses and disposal stations in metropolitan areas for the first time as part of this project. Furthermore, rainfall will be swiftly drained into storage tanks for eventual use in irrigation and other applications.
The project involves carefully placing clean water and sewage pipelines at the right distances to avoid contamination. To guarantee safe drinking water, the clean water network will continue to be isolated from sewage pipes.
Additionally, each provincial constituency will have 30 kilometers of highways restored and improved. Maryam Nawaz also gave her approval at a special meeting to construct model villages in Punjab and to take prompt action to carry out the Punjab Development Program.
She highlighted the Clean Punjab Program, saying that by addressing long-standing drainage problems, the project will enhance the lives of Punjab’s 150 million inhabitants. She gave her word that the new system would improve public services and safeguard roads, guaranteeing improved urban infrastructure throughout the province
