Adding to his fans excitement Dosanjh shared exclusive behind-the-scenes images from the shooting which thrilled his fans.
Directed by Honey Trehan and produced by Ronnie Screwvala, the film is set to release in cinemas on February 7.
As per the teaser, Punjab 95 is based on true story of Sikh rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra. Jaswant fearlessly uncovered over 25,000 cases of unlawful killings, kidnapping and secret cremations carried out by Punjab Police.
The film follows his unwavering quest for justice, culminating in his abduction, torture, and tragic murder—crimes for which six police officers were later convicted.
Diljit Dosanjh takes on the role of Khalra, delving into the disappearance of Sukhdev Singh. The teaser highlights Khalra’s unwavering commitment to uncovering the truth, despite the personal risks he faces in exposing realities behind the case.
According to Indian media reports, the film encountered numerous obstacles, with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Board recommended 120 cuts in the film due to its sensitive content. Although delayed for years, the film received approval from Khalra’s family after a private screening in 2022.
