PTI supporters manages to reach D-chowk, Islamabad on Tuesday after clashing for two days with police.
Islamabad’s D-Chowk is currently a battleground as Islamabad police is using tear gas to halt PTI supporters in the federal capital.
The military was called in by the government to handle the situation in the federal capital, and army forces have taken over the security of important sites within the Red Zone.
Attaullah Tarar, the Information Minister, has stated that PTI founder Imran Khan’s spouse Bushra Bibi was determined to harm people.
Addressing the media in Islamabad, Tarar said that individuals who participated in the demonstration were paid and blamed the former first lady of using other people’s children as puppets.
Earlier, Convoys of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters, led by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and opposition leader Omar Ayub, have entered Islamabad.
Originating from Hazara Interchange, the convoys made their way towards D-Chowk but faced fierce resistance at Ghazi Brotha Bridge, where heavy shelling was reported.
Despite the crackdown, Omar Ayub’s convoy managed to overpower Punjab Police forces at the Hazara Interchange. Gandapur’s convoy, leading from Hazara Division, played a pivotal role in breaking through police barricades.
After overcoming the blockade, the convoys, stretching over two kilometers, continued their advance. On Hazara Motorway, PTI supporters successfully forced police to retreat amid violent clashes and stone-pelting.
Multiple police officers were injured, with two severely hurt and rushed to hospitals. Among the injured were DSPs Chaudhry Zulfiqar and Shahid Gilani, along with ASI Tabassum. DSP Zulfiqar sustained significant injuries to his back and legs.
