Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is visibly reluctant to engage in talks with the government after Imran Khan snub.
Its leaders who earlier said they are ready to hold talks with PML-N and other ruling parties, now are putting conditions. Many linked their latest position to PTI founder chairman Imran Khan snub.
Khan, during an interaction with reporters in Adiala Jail, outrightly rejected the idea of engagement with the government until his demands were not addressed.
PTI founder chairman is demanding release of party workers and formation of independent judicial commission to probe into D-chowk incident.
Contrary to the “all is well” claim of the party leaders, Khan seemed angry, as per media reports. “He [Khan] was visibly upset over the performance of the his party leaders,” some reporters noted.
Following the development, PTI’s Asad Qaiser made it clear the party would not unconditionally engage in talks with the government.
He said PTI is demanding release of Imran Khan, party workers from prison and formation of judicial commission on D-Chowk incident. He rejected the impression that PTI has no pre-condition before start of talks.
He said the PTI is ready to launch civil disobedience movement if its demands were not met.
On the other hand some PTI leaders claimed that they had started dialogues with the government. Many believe the talks between the two sides held on the establishment suggestion. Some linked the development to national government. But nothing could be said with certainty so far.
Federal minister for information Ata Tarar said the government has so far not officially started dialogue with the PTI.
