Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has voiced strong opposition to the federal government’s recent proposition for negotiations, citing inconsistencies between the government’s rhetoric and its actions.
Reacting to the invitation from Federal Minister for Petroleum Musadik Malik, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar cast doubt on the government’s intentions.
“The government’s overture for dialogue seems disingenuous,” remarked Barrister Gohar.
He criticized the government for making arrests while simultaneously proposing talks.
“We are being offered negotiations while our members face detention and our rights to peaceful protest are being violated,” he stated.
Gohar emphasized that such contradictory actions cast doubt on the government’s sincerity.
This response follows Malik’s call for PTI to collaborate with the government to tackle national issues and foster the country’s prosperity.
Malik warned that ongoing political turmoil would have severe repercussions and urged PTI to move beyond chaos and discord.
Barrister Gohar also denounced alleged civil liberties violations, including arrests and breaches of personal sanctity. He questioned the feasibility of meaningful negotiations under these circumstances.
