As thousands of PTI supporters are marching towards Islamabad, the government has called in Pakistan Rangers to handle the protestors. It has already appointed thousands of troops of Islamabad Police and Punjab Police for security purposes.
As per BBC Urdu reports, the Interior Ministry has appointed Rangers at Faizabad interchange, Islamabad’s entry point.
Media reports say police have arrested over 400 PTI workers from Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Punjab police arrested hundreds of PTI local leaders and workers in different cities of Punjab including Lahore.
The government has also restricted internet supply in different parts of the country. Social media app WhatsAPP is not working properly in federal capital, according to NetBlocks .
Motroways and roads leading to Islamabad are already closed for traffic since Friday night.
The Punjab government has put containers at Lahore’s entry and exit points, blocking all kind of traffic.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and PTI founder chairman Imran Khan spouse Bushra Bibi are leading marchers.
PTI leaders from Multan, Sahiwal, Okara, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Khanewal, Layyah are marching towards Islamabad. They are going toward federal capital from other cities of Punjab as well.
Gandapur is leading protestors:
KP CM Gandapur vowed they would reach Islamabad’s D-chowk at any cost, following the orders of their jailed leader Imran Khan.
The government said it would not allow the marchers to enter Islamabad and implement the orders of the Islamabad High Court directions.
Electronic media is not giving coverage to the protest as the government has issued ordered in this regard.
It is expected the protestors reach Islamabad on Monday if they succeed in removing the hurdles the government placed in their way.
The PTI said its protest would be peaceful as they demanding the release of Imran Khan and their election mandate back. They said the government rigged the elections and came in power with the backing of establishment.
