Lahore police have arrested over 500 Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) supporters amid PTI protest in Islamabad.
As the PTI announced a protest in Islamabad and Rawalpindi on November 24, law enforcement agencies have stepped up to stop party workers to join the protest.
Security forces have blocked all the entry and exit points of Lahore with containers. Police have put hurdles in exit and entry points of Shahdara. Officials have cut down transport connection between Lahore and Islamabad.
Additional to this Lahore police are raiding the homes, offices, and other spots of the city. As per recent report, about 500 PTI supporters from Hanjarwal, Mansoora, Quaid-e-Azam Industrial Estate, and Green Town have been arrested so far.
Other areas including Shahdara Town, Badami Bagh, and Tajpura are also the main focus for the security forces.
Officials stated that they are making these raids to arrest those individuals who could disrupt law and order during the protest.
It is pertinent to note that the Punjab government has imposed Section 144 across the province until Nov 26. Under this section all the public gatherings are prohibited across the Punjab.
Authorities explained that the ban is a precautionary measure to prevent public disturbances and ensure the safety of people and property during this time.
