Six Pakistan Tehrek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders will meet former Prime Minister of Pakistan and founder of PTI Imran Khan in Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi.
The 6 PTI leaders Shibli Faraz, Aamir Dogar, Asad Qaiser, Sheikh Waqas Akram, Allama Raja Nasir Abbad, and Malik Ahmed Khan will meet Imran Khan today.
Yesterday, Islamabad High Court summoned Adiala Jail’s Superintendent, for not letting former prime minister Imran Khan meet political leaders of PTI.
Islamabad High Court Justice Sardar Ijaz Ishaq heard the contempt of court plea of Imran Khan. The court questioned why officials have not allowed Imran Khan to meet the political leaders despite the court order.
Advocate Faisal Chaudhry argued and appeared in court on behalf of the former prime minister.
Faisal Chaudhry argued that the same court had previously issued orders in line with jail regulations.
The court then inquired about the current status, and Chaudhry explained that officials had once again canceled meetings with party leaders.
He also noted that the court had set up a three-lawyer commission, but authorities had not followed it.
Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq asked if the petitioner had committed any crime, to which Chaudhry responded that he remains an under-trial prisoner, not convicted.
The court then questioned the State Council on why this issue persisted, stating that if the situation continued despite court orders, they would impose a fine.
In response, the State Council added, “We will consult the prison authorities, as the prison superintendent can better explain why the meeting has not occurred.”
The IHC directed the State Council to oversee the petition and ask the superintendent of jail to appear tomorrow.
The court hearing was adjourned after the direction of summoning Adiala Jail Superintendent at 10 am tomorrow.
