In response to orders from the Accountability Court in Islamabad, authorities have sealed the home of Zulfi Bukhari, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), in the Cantt neighborhood of Attock.
Bukhari was branded an absconder in the £190 million corruption investigation, which prompted the action. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) filed a request for confiscation last year, and the accountability court ordered the seizure of his properties.
According to the court’s decision, a 1,210-kanal property in Attock, which contains a 91-kanal plot, as well as a 30-kanal and a four-Kanal plot in Islamabad were seized. Additionally, the judge gave authorities seven days to provide a compliance report.
Prior to the Ministry of Interior authorizing the issuance of a red warrant for Bukhari’s arrest through Interpol, the NAB had submitted a plea to recover his assets.
An overview of the NCA case
Due to claims of financial embezzlement connected to the Al Qadir University Trust, the National Accountability Bureau opened an inquiry against former Prime Minister Imran Khan, his spouse, and other individuals. The issue concerns the purported adjustment of £190 million, or Rs. 50 billion at the time, that was given to Pakistan by the British National Crime Agency (NCA).
