Significant progress has been made in the investigation of the murder of PTI leader and private hospital owner Dr. Shahid Siddique in Lahore.
The Organized Crime Unit (OCU) Iqbal Town has apprehended Qayyum, the son of the deceased, on charges of facilitating his father’s murder through hired gunmen.
According to police sources, Qayyum Shahid was detained based on solid evidence indicating his involvement in orchestrating the killing with the assistance of a shooter.
The murder case was initially filed by Dr. Shahid’s other son, Taimur, who reported that Qayyum and his uncle Sajid were present when the shooter attacked Dr. Shahid as he was getting into his car.
Qayyum, the son of prominent PTI leader and owner of Orange Hospital, Dr. Shahid Siddique, has been implicated in his father’s murder.
Police reports suggested that Qayyum, along with his close associate Shehryar, allegedly plotted the murder following Dr. Shahid’s refusal to approve Qayyum’s choice of marriage partner.
The incident, which took place in Lahore, involved multiple attempts on Dr. Shahid’s life. The first failed attempt was reportedly planned for a sum of five million rupees. After surviving this initial attack in January, Dr. Shahid was ultimately killed in a subsequent assault allegedly arranged for twenty million rupees.
Investigations have uncovered that Qayyum and his accomplice meticulously tracked Dr. Shahid’s movements, even following him during charitable activities.
CCTV footage has linked Qayyum to the crime, showing him near the scene in a suspicious white car.
Despite his involvement, Qayyum had publicly demanded justice for his father’s murder and led the funeral prayers, which added to the public shock and condemnation of the case.
This incident has brought to light severe issues related to family disputes and the extremes individuals might go to achieve their desires.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to bring all responsible parties to justice and fully uncover the conspiracy behind Dr. Shahid Siddique’s untimely death.
