Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) and Jamat-e-Islami (JI) have engaged in a social media war.
Workers of both the political parties are sharing posts on Facebook, X and other social media platforms against each other.
Tussles between the two sides started apparently after the JI Emir Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman remarks. Addressing Palestine solidarity march in Islamabad, a couple of days ago, Rehman questioned PTI founder Imran Khan’s silence over Israeli aggression. “Why you [Imran Khan] are reluctant to condemn Israeli aggression on Gaza,” Rehman raised question.
“Muzzammat kun nhi krty- Why you don’t condemn,” the JI emir asked indirectly referring to ‘silence’ of the PTI’s jailed leader on Palestine issue.
Following his remarks a large number of the JI workers have started posting the same on social media platforms. It seems that the JI workers are trolling the PTI which, as per claims by the right wing circles in Pakistan has linked with Jews.
They use Imran Khan marriage in Goldsmith family to solidify their claims. Although, Imran divorced Jemima Khan, the daughter of James Goldsmith, years ago, his opponent still exploit his marriage for political gains.
PTI workers in response to JI’s trolling widely shared Imran’s frequent social media posts in which the former Prime Minister strongly condemned Israeli actions on Gaza. They also posted Imran’s speeches refusing Israel’s recognition by Pakistan. PTI supporters accused the JI of hypocrisy claiming it has opened the field of non issue on the direction of the military establishment. They say JI is establishment backed party and that’s why people don’t vote for it.
Famous journalist and Youtuber Imran Riaz Khan has also responded to the JI tweet quoting Imran Khan’s posts against Israel and asking the JI to give up hypocrisy.
