PTI leader Sher Afzal Marwat has been issued show-cause notice, seeking explanation from him for “violating the party discipline.”
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) main secretariat asked Marwat to explain himself in writing within three days or the party will take action against the leader.
The notice read that Marwat damaged the party’s and its founder chairman reputation by issuing irresponsible statements.
However, the notice, has not mentioned the particular statements which caused damage to the main opposition party whose founder is in jail.
The PTI leader Omar Ayub Khan had earlier said that Marwat statement regarding Saudi Arabia crown price Muhammad Bin Salman interference in ouster of PTI founding chairman Imran Khan from power had caused problem. He said that the statement aimed at creating damage to party’s relations with the Kingdom. It is said the Saudi ambassador in Pakistan expressed concern over Marwat statement.
Known for issuing bold statements, Sher Afzal Marwat has emerged as popular leader within the PTI during past several months.
His relations with other PTI leaders have become strained with the passage of time and many believe the party cadres are unhappy over the populace politics of Marwat. May dubbed him as the agent of the military establishment.
Marwat terms with Omar Ayub, Iqbal Zafar Jhagra and Shibli Faraz also created rifts within the party which is already facing wrath of the country’s powerful military establishment.
Imran Khan had earlier nominated Marwat as the chairman of the Public Account Committee in the National Assembly but later withdrew the nomination, appointing MNA from Jhang Sheikh Waqas at the post.
