Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif has accused the PTI of the “destruction” of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Addressing the election rally in Mansehra NA-15, the constituency from where he is contesting the polls scheduled to be held on February 8, he said he saw no difference in the area as he visited it after almost 10 years.
It was his third public appearance following his arrival from London on October 21, ending his self-imposed four-year exile.
The former three-time prime minister had addressed the gathering at Minar-e-Pakistan upon his arrival and later went to lead the public rally in Hafizabad. Hazara belt is traditionally considered as the stronghold of the PML-N though the PTI broke the political hegemony of the league in 2013. Imran Khan’s party ruled the province for 10 years from 2013 to 2023.
Sharif said the country had not made any progress in the past four years, reiterating to put it on the track if voted to power. He said had he not been ousted from power “under a conspiracy hatched by five (former) judges of the Supreme Court”, Pakistan would have been strong in every field.
Sharif vowed to build an airport, railways track in Mansehra after winning the election. He said people of Mansehra would be provided clean water facilities and a university and medical college would also be established in the area.
His daughter and PML-N senior vice-president Maryam Nawaz also spoke on occasion. The rally was organised by Capt (retd) Mohammad Safdar—the husband of Maryam—and PML-N local leader Sardar Yousaf Zaman.
