Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf has demanded meeting with party founder Imran Khan to postpone the protest in Islamabad on October 15.
The PTI has made this announcement to oppose the government decision for not allowing lawyers and doctors to meet with Khan.
Recently, President of Punjab chapter of the PTI, Hammad Azhar uploaded a video message on X.
In the video message Hammad Azhar told that Government is not responding to the PTI’s request to meet Khan.
“Party workers are concerned about the health of Imran Khan, but government is not giving them permission to meet him”, Hammad told.
Azhar said that all the ticket-holders and office-bearers of the PTI who will fail to reach in protest on October 15 will be stripped of their positions.
“I will personally lead the protesters for a peaceful demonstration. Government have banned even the official meetings with Khan. Authorities are deliberately keeping people in the dark about Khan’s condition”, Azhar told in video statement.
Hammad added that government is using the SCO summit as a cover to hide its true agenda. He accused government for passing unconstitutional amendments and suppress the opposition.
Earlier the PTI leader Asad Qaiser talked with JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on a phone call.
In a statement Qaiser told that Fazlur Rehman has requested him to postpone the PTI protest during SCO Summit.
Rehman also agreed that doctors and lawyers should be allowed to meet Mr. Khan.
Qaiser responded JUI-F Chief Minister that the PTI leaders would talk to Khan about this matter. He told Rehman that only Khan himself can decide about the protest.
PTI’s provincial information secretary Shaukat Basra also raised concerns about the inconsistency of the government’s actions. He said that current administration should remind those days when the authorities had allowed the Adiala Jail gates to open for a protest in Sangjani.
He questioned that why the government could not do the same now.
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, however, rejected the claims of the PTI regarding risks to Imran Khan’s health.
Asif said that the PTI workers are blindly following their leader. He also criticized the PTI’s slogan, “No Khan, no Pakistan.”
Minister rejected all the concerns of PTI workers about Khan’s health saying there is no threat to Imran Khan’s health inside prison.
