PTI ( Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf) urged the 26th constitutional amendment be repealed and dismissed without delay, on Thursday.
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan stressed during a press conference in Islamabad that his party never condoned violence and that the rule of law must be observed.
Labeling it a divisive move that must be repealed without exception, Khan harshly blasted the 26th constitutional change.
He further contended that PTI’s electoral mandate was unjustly seized during the general elections.
Moreover, he added, since their seats in Karachi were awarded to certain parties. It included Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQMP).
PTI was willing to discuss political conflicts notwithstanding these supposed unfairness.
Earlier, Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf announced province wide demonstrations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to be scheduled for February 25.
These protests seek to draw attention to issues around delays in court proceedings connected to party founder Imran Khan.
Party’s provincial leadership has stressed that demonstrations will occur in every region, hence guaranteeing widespread involvement.
The central event will take place at Assembly Chowk in Peshawar; it will be the main one for the campaign.
The president of PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Junaid Akbar, has directed district authorities to organize followers for optimal turnout.
The party is working on finetuning its general approach for persuasive protests.
Several times PTI has slammed the leisurely speed of legal proceedings regarding Imran Khan as politically motivated.
The party leadership contend the postponement signals a bid to stifle its political power.
The scheduled rallies aim to force officials to fast track due process impartially.
