Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), on Saturday, has accepted Omar Ayub’s resignation from his position as secretary general.
Omar Ayub, who also holds the position of Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, resigned on September 5, citing the heavy burden of his various roles within the party.
He expressed appreciation for the acceptance of his resignation and emphasized his commitment to continue serving PTI as a loyal member.
In his resignation note, Ayub disclosed that he had initially submitted his resignation on June 22, but it was not accepted at that time.
He explained that his decision to step down stemmed from the challenges of managing party duties, legal proceedings, and constitutional responsibilities.
Media reports have confirmed that Salman Akram Raja has been named as the new secretary general, succeeding Ayub in the role.
PTI’s founder has also reorganized the party’s structure, assigning Omar Ayub and Senator Shibli Faraz to oversee parliamentary matters, while Raoof Hassan will lead the party’s strategic think tank.
