The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) assured on Saturday that internet services across the country remain unaffected, despite a fault in the AAE-1 submarine cable near Qatar.
According to the PTA, the issue, reported on January 2, 2025, involved one of the seven undersea cables linking Pakistan to global internet networks.
However, the authority emphasized that proactive measures had been taken to ensure uninterrupted connectivity.
In a statement, the PTA revealed that additional bandwidth had been allocated to address potential disruptions caused by the cable fault.
“We have arranged and integrated temporary bandwidth into the system to maintain service stability,” the authority stated.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) confirmed the cable disruption on Friday, acknowledging that some users might encounter slower browsing speeds.
PTCL teams are reportedly working to resolve the issue at the earliest and restore the affected cable.
The PTA added that efforts to repair the AAE-1 submarine cable are ongoing, and the situation is being closely monitored.
A spokesperson reaffirmed the commitment to maintaining stable internet services nationwide during this period.
Although internet users in Pakistan could face minor slowdowns, the PTA assured the public of its dedication to minimizing the impact of the fault.
