LAHORE: Senator Taj Haider, in charge of the Central Election Cell of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), has written a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) on the matter of petrol bomb attack at the PPP election office in the provincial capital Lahore.
In the letter written by Senator Taj Haider, it is said that the election office of the PPP candidate Manzar Abbas which also the election office of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in Satto Katla area was attacked with a petrol bomb on Thursday. The attackers threw the petrol bomb at the gate of the office. He also said that the police have not registered an FIR in this regard.
He has requested the CEC that any security threat in the area is a serious matter and added that IG Punjab and CPO Lahore should be directed to conduct a thorough investigation into the attack and take legal action against the criminals in the area.
On the other hand, PPP Information Secretary Shazia Marri in her statement said that the attack on Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s election camp in Lahore is a cowardly act and the refusal by the police to lodge an FIR is exposing the motives behind the incident.
She said that the opponents of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in NA-127 are afraid of his (Bilawal’s) expected victory from the constituency.
Bilawal strongly condemns firing at PPP corner meeting
Chairman of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Saturday strongly condemned an attack on the PPP election office in Lahore and the firing at the Party’s corner meeting in Karachi.
He said that targeting the election office of PP 162 candidate Manzar Abbas Khokhar with a petrol bomb in Lahore was an open terrorism.
The PPP chairman said that Lahore Police was not registering FIR of the attack on the election office of the provincial candidate of his constituency NA-127 in Satookatla.
He said that the shots were fired at the corner meeting of jiyala candidate Agha Rafiullah in Malir. Bilawal also expressed his best wishes for the recovery of two jiyalas and two supporters, who were injured in the firing at the corner meeting of NA-230 candidate Agha Rafiullah.
