Professor Dr. Rana Eijaz Ahmad, Chairman Department of Political Science has shared his comments regarding the unfortunate incident at Punjab University.
Yesterday, teachers gathered outside the university to protest against the removal of rebate tax by government.
However, soon the police turn brutal.
“We, Academic Staff Association (ASA) gathered to protest against the end of tax rebate on our salaries,” Prof Dr. Rana Eijaz stated.
According to him, President Musharaff gave a tax rebate on their wages of 70% in 2013. However, it was reduced and remained at 40%. Initially in 2018, PTI Government reduced it to 25%. But now this government has finished this rebate.
“It has reduced the teacher’s salary by 20-90K depending upon the scale, Dr. Eijaz shared his concern.
“According to my TTS-21 scale, my salary is reduced by 90k per month,” Dr Eijaz said.
The professors took to the road against the decision.
However, in response, the police officials threatened the teachers and insulted them in the pursuit of clearing the road.
“The SI was threatening us and consistently insulting the members,” he shared.
They also made the videos of members of Academic Staff Association (ASA).
According to the Professor Eijaz, the Sub-Inspector had two phones in his hands. But when Dr Eijaz started making their video, he started yelling at him.
“He pushed me relentlessly, but Allah saved me,” Dr. Eijaz said while stating the incident.
