Zulfiqar Ahmed, a well-known figure in Karachi’s business sector, has gone missing, sparking a police investigation into his possible abduction.
The incident took place on Mauripur Road, leaving the business community and public deeply concerned.
The police have filed a case based on the report from Ahmed’s textile mill manager, who remains unnamed.
According to the report, Ahmed was last seen leaving the mill.
The First Information Report (FIR) states that Ahmed was en route to Clifton with a colleague when a car without license plates stopped their vehicle on Mauripur Road.
Armed men forced both individuals into their vehicle. After a brief journey, the kidnappers released Ahmed’s colleague but took Ahmed with them.
The manager also noted that Ahmed’s mobile phone has been unresponsive since the incident.
The Sindh High Court has issued notices to various officials, including federal and provincial law officers and Sindh’s police chief, following a petition for Ahmed’s recovery.
Ahmed’s wife, Amber Zulfiqar, emphasized her husband’s prominence in the textile and oil industries.
She detailed that on July 23, Ahmed and his friend Qaiser were intercepted by armed men in a double-cabin vehicle while traveling to Agra Taj Colony.
Qaiser was released shortly after, but Ahmed remains missing. The family reached out to law enforcement for information, but no details about Ahmed’s location were provided.
The family’s lawyer revealed that an attempt to file an FIR at Kalri police station was initially unsuccessful.
The court has been asked to compel law enforcement to locate and produce Ahmed, and to disclose any pending charges against him.
The petitioner also seeks a court order to prevent any criminal proceedings against Ahmed following his abduction, and to ensure a case is registered against those responsible for his disappearance.
