The federal government led by PML-N has banned the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) across the country. The Ministry of Interior has issued an official notification of the ban.
The Ministry of Interior said on Sunday that the PTM’s prohibition was decided upon after considering hard data.
It continues by saying that PTM engages in actions that jeopardize national security and peace.
It asserts that the PTM is a danger to the peace and security of the nation by disseminating anarchy and anti-national themes.
The Anti-Terrorism Act of 1997 was used to proscribe the organization and impose the ban. The Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) is a rights-based coalition that calls for an end to extrajudicial executions, enforced disappearances, and wrongful detentions in addition to pushing for more freedom of movement and de-mining of former tribal areas.
They maintain that a truth and reconciliation approach should be used to hold people accountable for these acts.
