Project Management Institute (PMI) names Hafiz Naseer Afzal as the 2023 Future Leader Award Winner on their website. Hafiz Naseer Afzal is the first Pakistani Project Management Professional (PMP) to receive this award in Pakistani history. This is an outstanding moment for the Pakistani nation.
The Project Management Institute is the world’s most respected body, with global presence in all nations. PMI establishes standards for project initiation, development, execution, Monitoring and Control, Closing, and Acceptance stages.
PMI lauds Hafiz Naseer Afzal for his work on the Balloki Power Plant, managerial skills, ability to operate in a challenging atmosphere, and achieving project deadlines set by the government.
A world record was also established when one of three turbine units of GE H Class Gas turbines fired up for the first time (first start up) just 59 days after the gas turbine was delivered on site.
On September 18, 2024, Hafiz Naseer Afzal won this distinguished award from Brantlee Underhill, Chief Community Officer, PMI, USA, during the PMI Global Summit in Los Angeles, USA.

Approximately 10,000 people attended the PMI Global Summit. All belong to multimillion dollar enterprises throughout the world.
Hafiz Naseer Afzal is a Project Manager / Senior Engineer at NESPAK’s Power & Mechanical Division. His responsibilities include project management, scope management, risk management, managing stakeholders, pre-feasibility and feasibility analyses, economic and financial evaluation, and preparation of technical requirements and tender documents.
His expertise also include evaluation of tenders, planning and design / design review, site supervision and testing/commissioning for various complex thermal power plant projects.
