Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will leave for Saudi Arabia on Monday, November 11, to attend the Second Joint Arab Islamic Summit in Riyadh.
The PM will call for a quick stop to the genocide in Gaza and restate Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause during the summit, Foreign Office (FO) Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said during her weekly press conference.
The spokesperson stated, “The PM will demand an immediate and unconditional ceasefire and an end to the ongoing Israeli adventurism in the area that is jeopardizing the security of the Middle Eastern countries.”
Baloch said that on June 4, 1967, Pakistan will demand the creation of an independent State of Palestine, with Quds Al Sharif serving as its capital.
The Saudi Arabian government is organizing the summit to address the Middle East situation, she said, adding that it is a follow-up to the Joint Arab Islamic Extraordinary Summit that was held in Riyadh on November 11 of last year to address the situation in Gaza and other occupied territories.
Senior officials from the Arab League and OIC member nations, as well as heads of state and government, are anticipated to attend the summit.
“The Prime Minister is anticipated to have bilateral meetings with leaders of other Arab League and OIC member states on the fringes of the Summit,” the official stated.
Prime Minister Sharif met with Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman and Saudi Minister for Investment Khalid al-Falihand during his trip to Saudi Arabia last week to address matters pertaining to investments.
In conversation with the media, the Saudi investment minister stated that many Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) signed in Islamabad were expanded to 34 from 27. As a result, the amount of expected investment also climbed from $2.2 billion to $2.80 billion.
