ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif continued his tirade against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman and accused the former premier of hatching May 9 riots to topple army leadership.
In his appearance in local programme, the premier recalled May 9 as the day when chaos gripped Pakistan which according to him aimed at removing top leadership of armed forces.
Calling Imran Khan a mastermind of the event, he said these triggered violent protests were organised by former PM and supporters to ransack civil and military installations.
Sharif said politicians, some military men and their families were involved in the events, saying those involved in the ransacking incidents wanted to overthrow the army leadership, saying planners wanted anarchy and chaos in Pakistan.
Earlier, Pakistan Army spokesperson confirmed that three senior officers, including a lieutenant general are facing departmental inquiries.
