Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called on the Afghan interim government to take decisive action against the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) as its terroristic activities are intolerable for the country.
Presiding over a federal cabinet meeting, Shehbaz urged Afghan leadership to take certain actions to dismantle the TTP’s activities. PM warned that any attempt of TTP to harm Pakistan and its citizens is the red line for Islamabad.
“TTP is operating from Afghanistan and is targeting Pakistan claiming lives of innocents”, PM stated.
Premier also expressed that Pakistan government is willing to engage in dialogue with Kabul to address the issue. “We have communicated to the Afghan government to discuss the issue and seek for ways to foster strong bilateral relations, but first Afghan administration must prevent the TTP from harming our citizens,” he added.
PM also expressed that Pakistan is interested for friendly relations with Afghanistan and collaboration in trade, economy, and other areas. “But the TTP remains an obstacle to friendly relations. Unless the Afghan government takes strict action against their terrorist activities, negotiations cannot proceed”, PM clarified.
Shehbaz also applauded the efforts of law enforcement agencies to maintain peace in the country. Premier paid tribute to those who embraced martyrdom for country’s defense against the miscreants.
