Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif launched Ramadan Relief Package of worth Rs20 billion with the goal of helping 4 million deserving people across the country.
“Ramadan Relief Package will be distributed within the first ten days of the holy month,” the prime minister said during the launch ceremony. “Via digital wallets, Rs 5,000 would be given to each qualified family”, he added.
“Compared to the Rs7 billion allotted last year, we have allocated Rs20 billion for this initiative this year, which is a significant increase,” he continued.
The State Bank of Pakistan, NADRA, BISP, and technology companies were praised by Shehbaz Sharif for creating an effective and transparent digital distribution system.
He said that one of the biggest instances of financial mismanagement was corruption in the Utility Stores Corporation. He declared that inefficient Utility Stores will be privatized and replaced with a cutting-edge digital system. Other government agencies that are losing money will also be shut down.
Shehbaz Sharif added that banks had requested court stay orders when the government imposed new rules and had gained windfall gains as a result of dollar fluctuations. He did, however, point out a recent ruling by the Sindh High Court that recovered Rs23 billion from a settled stay case.
In addition, PM was pleased that this year’s inflation was lower than in prior Ramadan seasons.
