Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced a temporary closure of its Islamabad offices for three days due to the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit.
A notification was released by PIA, indicating that its offices in the capital will be shut from October 14 to 16.
The notice explains that the closure is a precautionary measure ahead of the SCO conference. However, airport staff working in shifts will continue their duties as scheduled.
The SCO summit, scheduled for October 15 and 16 in Islamabad, will be attended by high-ranking officials, including India’s foreign minister.
In preparation for the event, authorities have enforced Section 144 in Rawalpindi and Islamabad from October 12 to 17, banning public gatherings and protests.
Furthermore, local authorities have also mandated the closure of schools, restaurants, hostels, and cafés across both cities during the summit period.
