PIA has started an investigation, following one of its flights, PK306, which traveled from Karachi to Lahore missing a wheel.
Aviation authorities discovered the situation during a post-landing examination. It was made at Allama Iqbal International Airport when one of the airplane’s rear tires went missing.
Even though more than fourteen hours had passed since the plane landed, the lost wheel was still missing at Lahore and Karachi airports.
Reports have it that the plane had all its wheels undamaged when it left Karachi and landed normally upon reaching Lahore.
Later, Lahore’s Air Traffic Control (ATC) issued a notification about the missing tire. It sparked a search at Karachi airport, where part of the tire shaft was later found.
Originally, CAA investigators thought that while the plane was on the Karachi runway, an outside object could have struck it, possibly causing the lack of one wheel.
Working with the CAA, PIA’s Flight Safety Department has commenced an official investigation. It is to establish exactly what caused the unusual occurrence.
Initial appraisals suggest that it might be run way related issue.
Moreover, there are chances of another unexpected outside element might. It might have led to the disappearance of the wheel; official take is still awaited.
Aviation professionals assured the public that design of the plane ensures passenger safety in those conditions.
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has sent a specialized inquiry team to Lahore to guarantee a complete investigation.
