The federal government is likely to further increase the petrol prices, petroleum products, and diesel from February 1, 2025.
Sources say that petrol prices are expected to increase by Rs 3 per liter, while high-speed diesel may become expensive by up to Rs 6 per liter in the upcoming fortnightly review.
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) will send a summary to the relevant ministry, recommending adjustments based on international oil price trends and exchange rate fluctuations.
The final decision on the new prices of petroleum products will be taken after consultation between Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, which is expected to be officially announced on January 31, while the new prices will be applicable for a fortnight from February 1.
The government increased the price of petrol by Rs 3.47 per liter on January 16, bringing the new price to Rs 256.13 per liter.
The price of high-speed diesel was increased by Rs 2.61 per liter, after which the new rate reached Rs 260.95 per liter.
