The Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) on Saturday issued an alert in light of expected rains across various districts of the province including Lahore.
RAIN IN VARIOUS CITIES OF PUNJAB
The PDMA spokesperson said that 64 mm of rain was recorded in Faisalabad, 22 mm in Chakwal, 25 mm in Sargodha, 42 mm in Sheikhupura, 22 mm in Gujranwala and Mandi Bahauddin, and 9 mm in Sahiwal. Rain was also recorded in Murree, Narowal, Sialkot, Jhang, Kasur, Joharabad, and Okara.
MORE RAIN EXPECTED IN NEXT 24 HOURS
The spokesperson further stated that rain is expected in most districts of Punjab over the next 24 hours, with the rain spell predicted to continue until October 1.
ALERT
DG PDMA Irfan Ali Kathia instructed all deputy commissioners across the province to remain on alert.
The DG also emphasized that, based on the directives of the Punjab Chief Minister, all relevant departments should stay vigilant.
Water levels in all rivers and streams across Punjab are currently at normal levels, and the PDMA control room is monitoring the situation around the clock.
He further added that Rescue 1122 and other emergency services should keep their staff and equipment on alert, and ensure the quick drainage of water from low-lying areas.
The citizens are advised to exercise caution, avoid contact with electrical poles and hanging wires and stay away from vulnerable buildings.
The special attention should be paid to children, ensuring they should stay away from standing water in low-lying areas.
