The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has selected the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as the neutral location for India’s fixtures in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy, which Pakistan is set to host.
The PCB officially conveyed this decision to the International Cricket Council (ICC), confirming that determining the neutral venue was part of Pakistan’s responsibilities for organizing the eight-team tournament. Consequently, India-Pakistan matches will be held in the UAE.
The decision came after a meeting between PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and UAE’s Minister of Tolerance and Cricket Board Chairman, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, in Ghotki. Discussions during the meeting revolved around strengthening bilateral ties and fostering cricket relations between the two nations.
Both sides agreed to enhance collaborative efforts to promote cricket. As part of this initiative, Mohsin Naqvi extended an invitation to Sheikh Nahyan to attend Champions Trophy matches in Pakistan.
Sheikh Nahyan expressed his support for the event’s success, highlighting the strong bond between the two countries and wishing Pakistan well for the smooth conduct of the tournament.
Meanwhile, reports from the Press Trust of India indicated that Dubai has been finalized as the venue for India’s matches during the Champions Trophy.
