The governing Board of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has approved the appointment of a new Chief Operating Officer (COO).
Sources from PCB confirmed the appointment of Syed Sameer Hussain as the new COO of PCB. The sources say that previously COO, Salman Naseer has been transferred to Pakistan Super League (PSL). Salman Naseer will be the new Chief Executive of PSL.
Apart from that, Salman Naseer also became an advisor to the PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi. The PCB sources added that Syed Sameer Ahmed has taken over the duties as the COO.
On the other hand, Indian media reported, that the government decided to not send its squad to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has shared its security concerns with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and requested that its matches be held in Dubai instead of Lahore, according to sources familiar with the matter, as reported by the Indian Express.
The BCCI has raised concerns regarding Champions Trophy matches in Pakistan. A source informed the Times of India that Dubai is a likely option to host the Men in Blue matches, as they prefer a neutral venue.
The ICC Champions Trophy is about to commence on 19 February 2025. Pakistan and New Zealand will open the ceremony with the first face-off match in Karachi.
