A fire broke out on an Air Busan aircraft in South Korea while it was preparing for departure to Hong Kong.
According to reports, the incident occurred at Gimhae International Airport in Busan, South Korea. The Airbus A321 aircraft, operating Air Busan flight BX391, suddenly caught fire in its rear section.
Foreign media reported that Air Busan officials confirmed all 169 passengers and seven crew members were safely evacuated however, 3 individuals sustained minor injuries.
Officials stated that the fire started at around 10:30 PM local time, at airport fire services were immediately alerted.
According to reports from South Korea’s news agencies, the fire originated from the deal of the aircraft. Later, footage showed burnt holes in the fuselage.
Air Busan is a subsidiary of Asian Airlines, which was acquired by Korean Air in December. Aircraft manufacturer Airbus stated that they were aware of the incident and were in contact with Air Busan regarding the situation.
It is worth noting that on December 29, 2024, another passenger plane in South Korea crashed after skidding off the runway due to landing gear failure at Muan International Airport.
The crash resulted in 176 confirmed fatalities, while two crew members survived.
South Korean authorities stated that this tragic incident occurred shortly after 9:00 AM local time.
Jeju Air flight 7C 2216 was carrying 181 people, including six crew members, from Bangkok, Thailand, to 21 International Airport in the southern part of the country when the accident happened during landing.
