Pankaj Udhas, the revered Indian singer has bid farewell to the world at the age of 73 after grappling with a prolonged illness.
The melancholic news was confirmed by his daughter, Nayaab Udhas, in a heartfelt social media post on Monday. The Udhas family shared the sorrowful update, expressing deep sadness over the demise of Padmashri Pankaj Udhas on February 26th.
Udhas, born in Gujarat in 1951, began his career in the 1980s and quickly gained recognition for his captivating performances and expressive vocals. His 1986 song “Chitti Aayi Hai” from the film “Naam” propelled him to national fame and solidified his place as a leading figure in the ghazal genre.
In recent days, the music maestro’s health had been a cause for concern, culminating in his final moments at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital. Pankaj Udhas, an influential figure in the Indian music industry, left an indelible imprint with his soul-stirring melodies that transcended generations.

Throughout his career, Udhas released over 50 albums and performed extensively in India and abroad. He received numerous accolades, including the prestigious Padma Shri award in 2006, for his immense contribution to Indian music.
