Four Pakistanis were killed and over 30 sustained injuries in a shooting incident in Oman.
Reports say some gunmen opened fire at Shia Muslims when they were busy in morning prayers in imambargah of Wadi al-Kabir, a district east of the capital city Muscat.
The incident described as rare in otherwise peaceful gulf country.
Pakistan ambassy stated the shooting incident occurred in Wadi al-Kabir on early Tuesday morning. Report say some 70 people including 30 Pakistanis sustained injuries.
The attackers opened fire at the worshippers, stated the ambassy, condemning the incident.
Security forces later neutralised the attackers.
Pakistanis and other injured are receiving treatment in local hospitals, according to reports.
“Pakistan strongly condemns the dastardly terrorist attack on Imam Bargah Ali bin Abu Talib in Wadi Kabir in Muscat, Oman that resulted in multiple casualties including two deaths of Pakistani nationals,” Pakistani ambassador Imran Ali posted on X.
He also personally visited the hospitals to inquire after the health and observe treatment arrangements for the injured.
The ambassador expressed grief over the loss of lives and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
