LAHORE: Pakistani journalist and columnist Nazir Naji passed away in Punjab capital on Wednesday after a prolonged illness.
Naji breathed his last at a private hospital in Lahore where he was admitted. He was suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.
The octogenarian served 27 years for Urdu publication Daily Jang as senior columnist. Before that, he served as chairman of the Pakistan Academy of Letters.
In 2012, he had joined Dunya as Group Editor.
Nazir Naji was also honored by Hilal-i-Imtiaz for his services.
Caretaker Minister for Information, Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs Murtaza Solangi and Federal Secretary for Information and Broadcasting Shahera Shahid have expressed their grief over Naji’s death.
