The first of three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) between Pakistan and Ireland is set to take place on Friday (today), marking the start of the team’s European journey
The squad will play two further games at Castle Avenue on Sunday and Tuesday before traveling to Headingley, Leeds, on Wednesday to play four Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) against England. Match will start at 7.00 pm PST.
Both sides will go to the T20I World Cup 2024 after the England series, which has games set for Headingley (May 22), Birmingham (May 25), Cardiff (May 28), and The Oval, London (May 30).
On June 6, Pakistan will begin its journey against the United States in Dallas.
Ireland will be hosting Pakistan for a T20I series for the first time. The only previous clash between the two teams occurred in the 2009 T20I World Cup, where Pakistan prevailed by 39 runs and Kamran Akmal was named player of the match for his 51-ball 57 and two stumpings.
It’s interesting to note that both sides are in the same group for the 2024 T20I World Cup and will play on June 16 in Florida. In addition to the two teams, the same group also includes India, the United States, and Canada. The top two teams in the group move on to the next round.
