The Pakistan Shaheens defeated Oman by 74 runs to record their first victory of the competition in the seventh game of the ACC Men’s T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup, played on Monday afternoon at the Oman Cricket Academy Ground in Muscat, Oman.
Oman was limited to 111-7 after chasing a score of 185-5.
Qasim Akram (48), Rohail Nazir (41*), and Arafat Minhas (31*) helped the Shaheens to a huge score earlier after choosing to bat first.
Muzahir Raza of Oman startled the Shaheens twice at the beginning of the innings by dismissing the opening duo of Yasir Khan and Mohammad Haris for three runs apiece, leaving the Shaheens 13-2 in 2.4 overs.
The Shaheens’ highest scorer, Qasim Akram, helped lead the team to 79-2 at the midway point with a crucial 72-run third-wicket pairing with Omair Bin Yousuf (25 off 21), before Omair left in the next over.
Throughout his 38-ball stay on the crease, Qasim hit three soaring sixes and two fours. Samay Shrivastava dismissed him with the scorecard showing 106-4 in 13.3 overs, preventing him from reaching a half-century. Abdul Samad hit two fours and one six in his 20 off of 12 balls.
