The Pakistani government announced a decrease in fuel prices on Monday, with petrol prices reduced by Rs2.7 per liter and diesel by Rs3.40 per liter, as part of the bi-weekly price adjustment.
The updated rates will take effect on October 1, as per an official statement from the finance ministry. High-speed diesel saw a Rs3.40 per liter drop, while the price of light diesel fell by Rs1.30 per liter. Additionally, kerosene oil experienced a cut of Rs3.57 per liter.
The price reductions are intended to help mitigate inflationary pressures on consumers amid the global rise in fuel costs.
Prior to the announcement, reports suggested that the prices of petroleum products in Pakistan were set to decline from October 1 due to a significant drop in the international fuel market. Sources had indicated that the federal government would likely confirm the reduction by September 30.
