Pakistan ranked at 133rd position on the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) in the latest report.
Transparency International released the corruption ranking report 2023 of 180 countries on Tuesday.
The Berlin-based organization issues ranking every year, relying on the data it collects through its members from different government sectors of a country.
The 2022 list placed Pakistan in the 140th position. It shows the country’s corruption ranking improved by seven points, according to the Index.
The country’s CPI score is 27 and it was 29 in 2022. The corruption watchdog uses sales from zero to 100, zero for highly corrupt and 100 for very clean.
According to the report, Denmark, Finland and New Zealand are the cleanest countries and they secured ranks 90, 87 and 85 respectively. Somalia and Venezuela secured 11 and 13 points while Syria, Yemen and South Sudan also received 13, 16 and 13 points respectively.
European democracies Iceland, Netherlands, Sweden and the UK secured 72, 79, 82 and 71 points.
India ranked at 93 on the Index as it secured 39 points. The USA is positioned at 69 on the list.
