Pakistan Railways has marked a significant milestone by successfully operating the longest cargo train in its history. The achievement underscores the continuous efforts of Pakistan Railways to enhance its operational capacity and efficiency.
Details of Cargo Train by Pakistan Railways
According to a spokesperson for Pakistan Railways, the cargo train, measuring an impressive 2500 feet in length and comprising 50 wagons, was pulled by a strong engine. This extensive train formation shows the railway’s capability to handle huge cargo volumes effectively.
The journey started in Karachi with more than 3,000 tons of stuff on board and ended in Kotri. The train went pretty fast, up to 60 kilometers per hour. Despite its massive size, it still moved at an average speed of 38 kilometers per hour.
The spokesperson further emphasized the environmental benefits associated with rail transportation, highlighting that the cargo train has the capacity to carry a load equivalent to that of 94 articulated trucks. By shifting freight transportation from roads to railways, Pakistan Railways aims to alleviate traffic congestion, reduce wear and tear on road infrastructure, and minimize environmental pollution caused by vehicular emissions.
This remarkable accomplishment not only signifies Pakistan Railways’ commitment to innovation and excellence but also reinforces its role in facilitating trade, commerce, and industrial growth across the country. As Pakistan continues to invest in its railway infrastructure, such achievements pave the way for a more sustainable and efficient transportation network, contributing to the nation’s economic development and prosperity.
