Lahore’s weather has taken a refreshing turn as westerly winds sweep across the city, easing the intense summer heat.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, this shift signals the onset of the monsoon season, with rain anticipated to begin nationwide from July 3.
Meteorologist Shahid Abbas has announced that the upcoming monsoon rains will bring significant cooling, providing much-needed relief from the recent heatwaves.
Currently, Pakistan is experiencing a mix of sunshine and clouds, a pattern expected to persist as the monsoon develops.
In Lahore, the arrival of these westerly winds has already resulted in a noticeable drop in temperatures. The city’s weather is transitioning as the monsoon pattern takes hold, and the Met Department predicts rain as this weather system establishes itself over the next few days.
Despite the cooling trend, Lahore continues to struggle with electricity disruptions. Many areas, including Amir Town, Nai Abadi, Dharampura, and Mustafaabad near the Main Canal Road, are experiencing frequent load shedding. Last night, a damaged transformer caused extended power outages, adding to the challenges faced by residents.
In Karachi, the weather forecast indicates partly cloudy conditions with rain expected to begin on Friday. The Meteorological Department reports that moderate to heavy rainfall is likely, and the sea breezes are set to return this evening. With humidity at 74%, Karachi residents can expect some relief from the heat as the monsoon weather sets in.
