At a ceremony held today (Tuesday) in Islamabad, the Ministry of Law and Justice, in partnership with NADRA and the National Police Bureau (NBP), officially launched Pakistan’s first National Sex Offenders Register.
By creating a more proactive and efficient system that is available to institutions and the general public, the historic effort aims to reduce sexual assault and abuse.
The creation of the sex offenders record was entrusted to NADRA under Section 24 of the Anti-Rape (Investigation and Trial) Act, 2021.
In September 2023, the Ministry of bill and Justice and the special committee established by the bill finalized the register’s rules.
The purpose of this initiative is to keep an close eye on habitual sexual offenders and criminals. By the help of this record, relevant authorities will always keep criminals in check even after completing there jail time.
