Government of Pakistan has given an invitation to India’s Commerce and Industry Minister, Piyush Goyal, for official visit to Pakistan, according to reports.
Sources verified that an invitation letter was sent through diplomatic channels to Piyush Goyal, the Indian Commerce Minister.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Trade Ministers’ Meeting is expected to take place in Islamabad on September 12.
Attendees at the summit are anticipated to include ministers of trade and economic affairs from SCO member nations. According to insiders, discussions on trade and economic cooperation among the member nations would take place at the summit.
The sources also stated that the measures deliberated upon at the ministerial meeting will be put forth for approval at the SCO government summit.
The SCO summit is slated to be in Islamabad on October 15 and 16.
Following the SCO tradition, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif invited all heads of government from SCO member nations, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, last week. However, there has been neither confirmation or denial from India of the invitation.
Indian media said that Modi will most likely skip the Shanghai Corporation Summit (SCO) in Islamabad.
