Pakistan has discovered 28 lakh tolas of gold in the Attock region, valued at approximately 800 billion Pakistani rupees.
The discovery was announced by Punjab Format Mining Minister Ibrahim Hassan Murad.
The minister said that 32 kilometre area has been validated by the Geological Survey of Pakistan.
This significant find has the potential to boost Pakistan’s economy, as highlighted by Murad in a statement shared on social media platform X.
He described the discovery as a groundbreaking milestone that could unlock Pakistan’s vast mineral wealth and paved the way of for economic revitalization.
Through sampling conducted across 127 sites confirm that deposit, showcasing the substantial natural resources available in Punjab.
The economic potential of these gold reserves is seen as a critical opportunity to address Pakistan’s financial challenges.
The country’s GDP growth has been insufficient to meet the demands of essential sectors like health and education, while unemployment has surged from 1.5% to 7% over the past decade.
Pakistan’s current unemployment rate is significantly higher than its regional neighbors, India and Bangladesh.
Adding to the concerns, woman in Pakistan, particularly in socially conservative areas, face even greater barriers to employment opportunities.
