Pakistan has demanded unconditional and urgent implementation of the order from the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
It has called on the UN Security Council to play its role in ending Israel’s ongoing brutal military campaign across Gaza. Pakistan supports South Africa and reaffirms the Palestinians’ right to self-determination.
The Foreign Office (FO) said Pakistan supports South Africa and demands unhindered humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza. It also called for taking effective measures to protect civilians in Gaza and holds Israel accountable for its war crimes.
“Pakistan demands immediate and unconditional implementation of the latest orders of the ICJ. Pakistan call on the UNSC to play its role in ending Israel’s ongoing brutal military campaign across Gaza,” it said adding “Pakistan reaffirms its unwavering support for the inalienable right to self-determination of the Palestinians for a viable, secure, contiguous, and sovereign State of Palestine on the basis of the pre-1967 borders and with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.”
The FO said Pakistan welcomes additional provisional measures by the ICJ ordering Israel to immediately halt its military offensive in Rafah and reaffirms its support for the Palestinians’ right to self-determination. The ICJ verdict on Friday came just days after Norway, Ireland, and Spain said they would recognize a Palestinian state, and the chief prosecutor of the separate international court sought arrest warrants for Israel’s Prime Minister Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his defense minister as well.
Pakistan showed grave concerns over the Palestinian death toll that has reached nearly 36,000 – 56 percent of which are women and children. Israel has demolished almost the whole infrastructure of Gaza. It is continuing bombings and invasions on hospitals and striking schools and offices of the aid agencies.
Pakistan has repeatedly raised the issue of Israel’s war on Gaza since October 7, at the UN through its permanent representative, Ambassador Munir Akram. Pakistan-backed resolutions were also adopted by the UN demanding Israel to stop its war crimes against the innocent people of Gaza. “As required by the latest ruling of ICJ, Israel should keep the Rafah crossing open for unhindered humanitarian assistance. It should ensure unimpeded access to the Gaza Strip of any commission of inquiry, fact-finding mission, or other investigative body mandated by the United Nations to investigate allegations of genocide,” it said.
